BABSON PARK, Mass.—The Skidmore College ice hockey team ended a rough week with big NEHC road win over #14 Babson College Saturday. The win snaps a brief two-game losing streak and keeps the Thoroughbreds in the hunt for home ice in the upcoming league tournament. Skidmore is 12-6-2 overall and 6-5-2 in league play. The Beavers are 13-7-2 and 8-5-2 NEHC.
- The win gives Skidmore the tiebreaker over Babson. The Thoroughbreds tied the defending NEHC champions 3-3 on Nov. 8 and have today's win.
- Skidmore never trailed in the defensive contest. Kaeden Patrick scored his team-high 11th goal of the season from Connor Wood and Everett Wardle at 7:31 of the first for a 1-0 lead. The Beavers tied it at 17:34 of the second.
- Wardle had the eventual game-winner at 8:18 of the third from Patrick and Jaden York. It was the seventh of the year and first game-winner for the team's leading scorer who has 7-14—21.
- Babson pressured the Thoroughbreds in the closing minutes, but the Tate Brandon and the Skidmore defense shut the Beavers down. Brandon had 14 of his 34 saves in the third period, including six over the final two minutes. It was his 10th game of the season with 30 or more saves.
- With regular-season games to play, Skidmore is fifth with 21 points, four points behind Elmira in fourth and five behind Babson in third. Skidmore has a game-in-hand on Elmira and two on Babson.
UP NEXT: Skidmore heads to Castleton on Tuesday for a rescheduled game and the returns home Feb. 3 against Hobart and Feb. 4 against Elmira.
