Mia Angwin scored two goals off the bench to lead the Skidmore College field hockey team to a 4-1 win over St. Joseph's College of Maine Sunday at Wagner Park. The Thoroughbreds are off to a 2-0 start, while the Monks are 1-1.
- Carrie Hughes opened the scoring with her fourth goal of the young season. Morgan Sickels earned her first of three assists.
- The Monks tied it five minutes later of a scramble in front after a penalty corner. Angwin tallied her first collegiate goal on a tip-in from Sickels at 25:32 for a 2-1 lead at the half. The Thoroughbreds opened it up with two goals in a 1:47 span of the third quarter. Beth Yorns got her first of the season at 40:33 from Sickels and then assisted on Angwin's goal at 42:20.
- Skidmore had a 15-6 shot and 8-5 corner advantage. Victoria Bodnar made two saves for her second win of the season.
- The three assists for Sickels matches her career total over her first 42 career games.
- The win snaps a three-game losing streak against the Monks and marks the team's first 2-0 start since the 2015 season.
NEXT UP: Skidmore travels to Western New York next weekend for games against Nazareth (Sept. 10) and Geneseo (Sept. 11).
