SCHENECTADY, N.Y.—The Skidmore College volleyball team lost a tight five-set match (25-23, 19-25, 21-25, 25-21, 15-12) to Misericordia University Friday night in the Union/Russell Sage Crosstown Challenge played at Union College. The Thoroughbreds are 0-7, while the Cougars are 5-3.

• Jo Blanco returned to the line-up and made an immediate impact. She had 19 kills, five aces, and 17 digs. Chelsea Winegar contributed 15 kills and nine digs. Audrey Powell had 28 assists and three blocks. Sophia Wittemyer added 15 digs, while Maya Stolarz totaled six aces and three blocks.
• After dropping the first set, Skidmore battled back to win the next two. Misericordia took the fourth set, 25-21 to force the fifth set. The Thoroughbreds led 11-9 in the fifth, but the Cougars earned six of the final seven points to claim the set and match 15-12.
• NEXT UP: Skidmore will play Cazenovia on Saturday at 10 a.m. and then SUNY Plattsburgh at 12 p.m.
