Thoroughbreds worn out by SLU in second half

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College women's lacrosse team went back-and-forth with visiting St. Lawrence in the first half before the nationally 17th-ranked Saints pulled away in the second half to pick up a 21-13 Liberty League victory on Saturday.
 
  • Gabriella Modesti posted a career-high five goals for Skidmore (2-8, 2-4 Liberty). She also had an assist to finish with six points.
  • Elazbeth Walsh scored twice and added an assist.
  • Lily Schwartzman also scored twice.
  • Maeve McKinley, Jillian Lockwood, Grace Grbach, and Amelia Bassett each had one goal for the Thoroughbreds.
  • Liv Kazanjian had a superb first half, closing the segment with 14 saves. Cate Spaulding had three saves and Phoebe Beshlian posted one in relief.
  • Charlotte Powell finished with six goals and two assists to lead the way for SLU with eight points.
  • Callie O'Neill scored five times and picked up six draw controls. Dana Fernandez led all players with nine draw controls for St. Lawrence (11-1, 5-1 Liberty).
  • Isabel Silvia and Rachel Burke both had three.
  • Raelynn Bovenzi tallied 12 saves in goal for the Saints.
  • Skidmore got off to a hot start on both ends of the field to build a 3-0 lead after 10 minutes of play.
  • SLU got four second to lead in the early stages of the second quarter, 4-3.
  • The teams traded shots for the rest of the second frame and St. Lawrence led 7-6 at the break.
  • A goal 10 seconds into the third quarter set the tone for the Saints, who outscored the Thoroughbreds 14-7 over the span of the second half.
