Thoroughbreds down RIT, 16-8, to cap weekend road sweep

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Skidmore College women's lacrosse team completed its weekend road sweep on Saturday with a decisive 16-8 victory at RIT.
 
  • Skidmore (4-10, 4-5 Liberty) has one contest remaining – next Saturday, April 30 at home versus Ithaca. The Thoroughbreds are in contention for the final Liberty League playoff spot and will likely need a win in conjunction with other league results.
  • The Thoroughbreds led wire-to-wire and built separation thanks to a 6-1 run in the middle of the first half.
  • Skidmore's largest lead was nine, 13-4, in the middle of the third quarter.
  • Maeve McKinley, Gabriella Modesti, and Camille Pontone shared the load offensively, each contributing three goals.
  • McKinley and Modesti both finished with four points with one assist apiece.
  • Danielle Kilburn and Elizabeth Walsh each had two goals.  
  • Lara Strunk, Emma Sellers, and Amelia Basset all scored once.
  • Liv Kazanjian had nine saves.
  • Skidmore was a perfect 22-for-22 on clearing attempts.
  • McKenna Joint led the way with four goals for RIT (5-9, 3-6 Liberty).
  • Linda Nutter turned aside 10 shots in the effort.
  • Skidmore was ahead in the turnover margin, 21-16, while also picking up 21 ground balls against 15 for the Tigers.
  • RIT had an edge in draw controls, 17-10. Aldyn Savage led all players with seven draw controls for RIT, while Ella Harris posted four for the Thoroughbreds.
