Thoroughbreds overpower Yellowjackets 17-9

ROCHESTER, N.Y.—A balanced scoring attack led the Skidmore College women's lacrosse team to a 17-9 road win over Rochester in Liberty League action Friday afternoon. The win snaps a five-game losing streak for the Thoroughbreds who are 3-10 overall and 3-5 in league play. Rochester is 5-7 and 2-6.
  • Camille Pontone scored a career-high five goals to lead the Thoroughbreds. Elizabeth Walsh had three goals and two assists and Maddy Marr had a goal and four assists. Gabriella Modesti scored three goals, while Danielle Kilburn contributed a goal and two assists. Lily Schwartzman scored twice and Maeve McKinley had a goal and an assist. Emma Sellers had the other goal.
  • Walsh added two ground balls, three caused turnovers and two draws. Ella Harris had a game-high 11 draws.
  • After allowing an early UR goal, Skidmore roared back with three straight and five of the next six goals to take charge early, 5-2 in the first quarter.
  • Rochester never got close after that.
  • Liv Kazanjian had 11 saves in net for the Thoroughbreds.
  • Skidmore will work to keep its playoff hopes alive on Saturday at RIT. Game time is 2 p.m. The Thoroughbreds are a ½ game out of the final playoff spot with two games to play.
