POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.—The Skidmore College baseball team remained firmly in control of the Liberty League East with a 5-2 night cap win over Vassar College, Saturday afternoon. The Thoroughbreds dropped the opener 7-6, but took the series 2-1. Skidmore (20-4-1) has pulled away in standings with an 8-1 Division and 9-2 overall Liberty League record.

GAME 1
- Down 6-1 heading into the seventh and final inning, the Thoroughbreds scored five runs to tie it 6-6. William Snyder had a two-run single and Sean Lang smacked a two-run double in the comeback. The Brewers regrouped and had a two-out rally in their half of the seventh for the walk-off win.
- Justin Posnik started, going 4.1 innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on six hits with two walks and three strikeouts. Peter Martin (2-1) took the loss in relief.
GAME 2
- Skidmore set the tone early with three runs in the top of the first. Trey Bourque had a two-strike two-run double and Max Mello had an RBI single. Sac flies from Snyder and Danny Melillo accounted for the other two runs.
- Ameer Hasan remained unbeaten at 5-0. He allowed two runs on eight hits with one walk and four strikeouts over 5.2 innings. Ethan Caiazza earned his second save with 3.1 innings of scoreless relief.
- Jaden Torrado (2-5) and Pascal Marcktell (2-4) had two hits each.
- With hits in both games, Jackson Hornung extended is hit streak 14 games and his program record on-base steak to 32 games.
- It's Skidmore's first 20-win season since 2012.
NEXT UP: Skidmore will travel to Castleton on April 21 to complete a game from April 6 and play another nine inning contest.
