Thoroughbreds pull away from Brewers for 13-6 win

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.—The Skidmore College women's lacrosse team outscored Vassar 7-2 in the second half on the way to a 13-6 Liberty League road win Wednesday evening. The Thoroughbreds are 2-5 overall and 2-1 in league play, while the Brewers drop to 3-5 and 1-2.
  • Camille Pontone tied her career high with three goals. Gabriella Modesti and Danielle Kilburn had two goals and an assist, while Lily Schwartzman scored twice. Jillian Lockwood finished with a goal and three assists. Elizabeth Walsh, Avery Geddes, and Maeve McKinley had single goals. Geddes had three ground balls
  • The Thoroughbreds led 5-2 in the second quarter behind two Schwartzman goals. The Brewers cut it to 5-4 at the half with a pair of late goals.
  • Skidmore took charge in the third with five different players scoring to put the team in front 10-6.
  • Pontone scored all three of her goals in the fourth quarter, while the Thoroughbred defense shut Vassar down for the 13-6 win.
  • Vassar outshot Skidmore 31-29.
  • Liv Kazanjian had 14 saves and a season-high seven ground balls in net for the Thoroughbreds. She had five saves to keep the Brewers off the board in the fourth quarter.
  • Skidmore has won eight of its last nine match-ups with Vassar.
