Rangers no match for Thoroughbreds

MADISON, N.J.—The offense continued to click for the Skidmore College men's lacrosse team in a dominating 24-4 road win over Drew University Saturday afternoon. The Thoroughbreds are 5-2 while the Rangers are also 5-2.
 
  • The Thoroughbreds scored the game's first 21 goals.
  • Leading 11-0 at the half, Skidmore outscored Drew 10-0 in the third quarter. The Rangers didn't break the ice until 9:10 of the fourth quarter.
  • 14 players scored goals and 16 found their way onto the score sheet.
  • Jon Bouvier led the way with four goals. Charlie McFadden had three goals and an assist, while Tim Blue had two goals and three assists. Charlie Kessler and Ben Gastonguay scored two goals and had two assists each. Brandon Reilly and Alex Carpenter scored twice.
  • Blue had a team-high six ground balls, while Jack Fitzpatrick and Luke Curtin had five each. Curtin won 11 of 16 faceoffs, while Fitzpatrick had seven of 14.
  • Skidmore's first six goals were scored by different players with Bouvier getting it started from Kessler at 11:39 of the first.
  • Charlie Murphy, Hudson Miller, Will Stevens, and Owen Quinn all scored their first goals of the season.
  • Four different goalies saw time for the Thoroughbreds. Collin Kuester stopped all nine shots he faced over the first 34:23 for the win.
  • The last time Skidmore scored 20 or more goals was in a 2011 20-10 win over Vassar College. The program record is 29 set in a 29-3 1992 win over American International College.
  • NEXT UP: The Thoroughbreds open Liberty League play at home March 26 at 1 p.m. against 19th ranked Rensselaer.
