PINE VALLEY, N.Y.— A pair of second period goals held up for #8 Elmira College in a 2-1 New England Hockey Conference win over Skidmore College Friday night.

The Thoroughbreds are 13-8-1 overall and 8-6-1 in the NEHC. The Soaring Eagles move to 15-5-1 and 9-4-1 NEHC.

After a scoreless first period,
Austin Rook put Skidmore in front with a power-play goal 23 seconds into the second period from
Kaeden Patrick and
Reid Russell. Elmira finally solved Thoroughbred goalie
Tate Brandon on their 14
th shot on goal of the game when Nick Grinvalds scored from Graham Denomme at 10:31. Bailey Krawczyk got the eventual game winner with a power-play goal at 12:56 form Daniel Dimon and Nicholas Domitravic.

Skidmore put pressure on Elmira goalie Chris Janzen in the third period, but Janzen turned away all 11 shots he faced in the period to preserve the win.

The Thoroughbreds had a 28-25 shot advantage with Brandon finishing with 23 saves and Janzen 27.

Three regular season games remain for Skidmore, including Saturday's road contest with NEHC leader and #6 Hobart at 4 p.m.
