Skidmore skates past Wentworth 5-1

EVERETT, Mass. – Thomas Finck had three points on two goals and an assist to lead the Skidmore College men's hockey in a 5-1 road victory over Wentworth on Tuesday.
 
  • Freddie Ilias, Matt Rutigliano, and Ryan Waltman all scored for the Thoroughbreds, who have won two straight and improve to 2-1 in the young season.
  • Seven different players registered assists: Finck, Danny Magnuson, Everett Wardle, Jacob Franczak, Matthew Monk, Joe Biddle, and Zach Lindewirth.
  • Tate Brandon had 35 saves.
  • The Skidmore penalty kill did not allow a goal in five Leopard chances and improves to a perfect 12-for-12 on the season.
  • Skidmore led 2-0 after the first period. Finck opened the scoring early at 2:21 from Magnuson and Monk before Ilias scored at 12:33 from Biddle and Franczak.
  • WIT got on the board at 5:10 of the second period to cut the deficit to one.
  • Waltman scored the first goal of his career just over three minutes later to bring the lead back up to two. Lindewirth and Wardle had the assists.
  • Finck scored his second, unassisted, four minutes into the third and later assisted on Rutigliano's shorthanded empty netter with under two minutes left.
  • Skidmore will travel to SUNY Canton on Friday before hosting nationally second-ranked Geneseo on Saturday at 7 p.m.
