BOSTON, Mass.— UMass Boston scored three goals in a the final 4:09 of the second period to break open a tight game on the way to a 5-0 New England Hockey Conference win over Skidmore College Friday night.

The loss drops the Thoroughbreds to 7-6-1 overall and 3-4-1 in NEHC play. The Beacons are 8-5-1 and 4-2-1.

In a back and forth first period, UMB found the net when Ethan Nitkin scored from Jeffrey Skinner and Andy Walker at 15:35.

The Beacons made it 2-0 at 6:54 of the second on a Corey Clifton goal. Then UMB scored at 15:51, 16:58 and 19:29 to take over with a 5-0 lead.

UMB outshot Skidmore 40-35. Brandon had 26 saves over the first 40 minutes.
