SCHENECTADY, N.Y.-- The Skidmore College volleyball team split four matches at the Union-Russell Sage Crosstown Challenge Sept. 17-18.

The Thoroughbreds (4-7) opened Friday with a 3-1 (22-25, 25-20, 25-22, 25-15) win over host Russell Sage (2-7) then dropped a 3-1 (9-25, 25-22, 25-19, 25-19) contest to Hartwick (6-1).

Play shifted to Union on Saturday with Skidmore knocking off Oneonta (1-8) 3-1 (25-16, 23-25, 25-21, 25-13). The Thoroughbreds lost to Cortland (8-2) 3-0 (25-14, 25-15, 25-23) in the final.

Russell Sage
Chelsea Winegar had a team-high 19 kills to go along with eight digs.
Audrey Powell contributed three aces, four blocks and 45 assists.
Elizabeth Miller had 24 digs.

Hartwick
Zoe Beals (12) and Winegar (11) combined for 23 kills. Powell had another five aces and 31 assists, while Miller led with 13 digs.

Oneonta
Beals (17) and Winegar (15) totaled 32 kills in the Oneonta win. Winegar had 11 digs for the double/double.
Grace Aronson contributed six aces.

Cortland
Beals was in double digits in kills for the third straight match with 10. Winegar had nine digs, while Powell had 27 assists and two aces.

Skidmore opens Liberty League play at home Sept. 24 at 4 p.m. against Vassar.
