SCHENECTADY, N.Y.—The Skidmore College volleyball team dropped a pair of matches Saturday at the Union College Invitational.
The Thoroughbreds lost 3-0 (25-23, 25-14, 25-21) to Williams and hooked up in a marathon battle with Springfield, losing a five-set heartbreaker 3-2 (19-25, 29-27, 33-31, 25-6. 15-12).
Williams:
Audrey Powell had 21 assists and a block.
Tiffany Flores compiled a team-high eight digs.
Springfield:
The Thoroughbreds gave unbeaten Springfield all it could handle in the five-set match. Jo Bianco (17) and
Emily Emmett (14) combined for 31 kills.
Elizabeth Miller had five aces and 12 digs. Emmett had 13 digs and 14 kills.
Carolyn Scott had four blocks, while
Sophie Sacco and
Grace Aronson had three blocks each.
Skidmore is at the Russell Sage/Union College Crosstown Challenge Sept. 17-18.
