TROY, N.Y.— The Skidmore College baseball team snuffed out a final inning Rensselaer rally to win the second game of a Liberty League doubleheader 5-4. The Engineers won the first game 8-7.

The Thoroughbreds are 2-5 and 1-3 in Liberty League action. RPI is 1-5 and 1-5.

GAME 1

Skidmore scored five runs in the second inning to take an early 7-2 lead.
Jackson Hornung had a two-run double and
Sam Browning followed that up with a two-run homer to spark the inning. The Engineers scored once in the fourth then piled on five runs, including a walk-off three-run double to pull out the 8-7 win.

Hornung finished 2-3 with a double, solo home run, and three RBI. Browning was 1-2. Starter
Justin Posnik went five innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits with two walks and three strikeouts in the no decision.

GAME 2

Browning did a little bit of everything in game 2. He drilled a 1-2 pitch over the left field fence for a three-run homer to put the Thoroughbreds up 5-1 in the fifth. He then made a rare pitching appearance with one out in the bottom of the seventh after RPI scored two runs to close to 5-3. After walking his first batter to load the bases, he got an RBI fielder's choice at third and then a game ending fielder's choice to earn his first career save.

Hornung had another big game at the plate, going 3-4 with two runs and an RBI.
