SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—
Max Mello scored all the way from first base on a failed pickoff to cap a wild 6-5 comeback win for Skidmore College in Liberty League baseball action against Bard College Saturday at Castle Diamond. The Raptors took the second game 9-5.

The Thoroughbreds are 3-6 and 2-4 in league play, while Bard is 5-9 and 4-6. The Raptors host the final two games of the series on Sunday at 1 p.m.

GAME 1

Down 5-2 in the bottom of the seventh, Skidmore ran its way to three runs and the win.
William Snyder opened the inning with a double and moved to third on an
Anthony Mollica single. After a strike out, Snyder scored on a wild pitch, while Mollica moved to second and then third on another wild pitch, scoring on a Mello single to center. With two outs, a wild pickoff throw ended up in foul territory. Mello never stopped, getting the green light to head home after another wild throw missed him at third.

Mello finished 2-4.
Jaden Torrado was 2-3 with two runs and an RBI and Snyder was 2-3 with an RBI.
Jack Clark got the complete game win. He allowed five runs (four earned) on eight hits with seven strikeouts and two walks.

GAME 2

Bard opened up a 6-2 lead after five innings. The Thoroughbreds got three back in the bottom of the sixth to make it a one-run game. Torrado had an RBI double and stole home on a double steal in sixth. The Raptors put the game away with three in the ninth.

Danny Melillo was 3-5 with an RBI. Torrado was 2-5 with an RBI. Snyder and
Sean Lang had two hits each. Starter
Thomas Quinn took the loss. He gave up three runs (one earned) on five hits over the first four innings.
