AMSTERDAM, N.Y.—Playing for the first time in more than a month, the Skidmore College baseball team lost to Union College 4-3 (11 innings) and 14-7 in the team's Liberty League opener.

The Thoroughbreds are 1-4 and 0-2, while the Dutchmen are 6-4 and 4-2.

GAME 1

The Dutchmen won the marathon with a walk-off full count home run in the bottom of the 11
th.

Joseph Pastore put Skidmore up 2-0 with his first home run of the season. Union tied it with solo home runs in the third and fourth. Pastore made it 3-2 with an RBI single in the seventh, but the Dutchmen tied it in their half of the inning to send the game to extra innings.

Pastore finished 2-5 with three RBI.
Brendan O'Neill was 2-5.
Ethan Caiazza tossed three innings of scoreless relief with three strikeouts.

GAME 2

Down 5-1, Skidmore tied it 5-5 in the third on
Max Mello grand slam. The Dutchmen responded with five runs in the bottom of the inning and another four in the fifth for the 14-7 win.

O'Neill was 2-3 and
Sam Browning went 2-4 with an RBI double.
Briston Maynard had a pinch-hit RBI double in the seventh.

Skidmore is at RPI for two on April 28 at 2 p.m.
