GORHAM, Maine—Southern Maine scored three second period goals and held on for a 3-2 win over Skidmore College in New England Hockey Conference play Friday night.

It was the first league loss of the season for the Thoroughbreds (2-2-1, 1-1-1 NEHC). The Huskies are 1-3-1 overall and in league play.

Kaeden Patrick put Skidmore in front from
Will Dow-Kenny and
Ethan Heidepriem at 16:24 of the first period.

Brendan Dowler tied it at 2:01 of the second and Matt Fuller put USM in front 2-1 at 7:47. Austin Marini made it 3-1 at 13:07. Patrick got the Thoroughbreds to within one with his second goal at 14:45 from
Joe Biddle and
Everett Wardle.

Skidmore fired 15 shots on goal in the third period, but Huskie goalie Anthony D'Aloisio held firm to preserve the win. He finished with 34 saves.
Tate Brandon had 22 saves for the Thoroughbreds.

Skidmore continues its road trip on Saturday at #8 Babson college in a 4 p.m. game.
