SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The Skidmore College hockey team opened the season with a 2-0 non-league home loss to Wentworth Saturday afternoon at the Saratoga Springs City Rink.

The Thoroughbreds are 0-1, while the Leopards even their record at 1-1.

Josh Faussett scored the game's first goal at 16:00 of the first period. Matt Smoliga and  Kevin Obssuth assisted. After a scoreless second, Kasey O'Brien added a power-play goal off a rebound at 9:25 of the third from Sean Brown and George Weiner.

Skidmore threatened in the third, pulling the goalie with a power play with 3:53 to play. The Thoroughbreds fired eight shots on goal over the final minutes, but couldn't get one to go.

Tate Brandon had 20 saves for the Thoroughbreds, while Will Oliver turned away all 33 shots he faced, including 15 in the third period.

Skidmore travels to Anna Maria College on Nov. 5 for a 5:40 p.m. contest.
