SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College women's volleyball team overcame early adversity before cruising to a 25-23, 25-13, 25-11 victory over SUNY Potsdam in the Thoroughbreds' first match of the Skidmore Invitational.

Skidmore will close the season on Saturday with matches against Oswego State (11 a.m.) and New Paltz (3 p.m.). Skidmore will also honor its seniors,
Zoe Beals and
Lauren Kramer, before the 11 a.m. match.

Skidmore improves to 11-15 while the Bears dip to 6-14.

Grace Aronson led Skidmore with 11 kills on 18 attempts with just one error for a .556 hitting percentage. She also had two service aces and two blocks. Beals finished with nine kills, and
Sophie Sacco,
Chelsea Winegar, and
Jo Blanco all had five. Skidmore hit just .114 in the first set but turned it around with .438 and .259 the rest of the way to finish with a .266 attack percentage for the match.

Skidmore had nine service aces to Potsdam's one.
Elizabeth Miller had four and
Jessica Shulman had two. Shulman also dished out 18 assists and pitched in four digs. Miller had a match-high 13 digs.
Tiffany Flores and
Noa Berger contributed with eight and five assists, respectively.

Jessica Ader posted seven kills to lead Potsdam. Emme Price and Megan Henry both had four.

Potsdam jumped to an early advantage, leading by as much as four, before the Thoroughbreds put it in gear and used a 7-2 run to gain the lead. Play went back-and-forth until Aronson put down a kill to bring it to set point and an attack error one play later gave Skidmore the set victory.

The Thoroughbreds outscored the Bears 50-24 the rest of the way for the comfortable win in sets two and three.
