SPARKS, Md.— A second half comeback fell short for the Skidmore College women's lacrosse team in a 9-6 loss to Stevenson Monday night at the US Lacrosse Tierney Field.
The Thoroughbreds are 0-4, while Stevenson is 2-2.
Amanda Orvis had two goals and an assist and
Grace Connerty had two goals for the Thoroughbreds.
Kathleen Hanna had four draw controls and
Charlotte Cass added three ground balls.
Caroline Kenlon registered 14 saves.
Kaitlyn Kozlowski, Carly Bowes, and Caroline Murphy scored two goals each for Stevenson.
The Mustangs controlled the first half, opening a 6-1 lead with :48 seconds left. Orvis scored with six seconds to play to cut it to 6-2 and give Skidmore momentum going into the second half.
After a Stevenson goal to open the second half, the Thoroughbreds scored three straight including a pair by Connerty to close it to 7-5. The teams traded goals before a late Insurance goal by the Mustangs for the 9-6 final.
Skidmore travels to Messiah College for a March 11 game at 4 p.m.
