FORT MYERS, Fla.—Skidmore College dropped its first game in Florida to Wittenberg University 12-5 on Monday.
Skidmore moves to 3-3 on the year and Wittenberg is 4-2.
Jake Hardy drove in three of Skidmore's five runs.
The biggest inning for the Thoroughbreds was the bottom of the 4th. Down 5-1,
Matt Chipkin doubled to right-center, eventually scoring on a sac fly from
Jake Hardy.
Sam Browning walked right and was driven in by an
Andrew Knight double down the left field line.
Ryan Strickland followed with a single of his own, scoring Knight.
The score remained 5-4 until the bottom of the eighth. Wittenberg managed five runs on four hits, including a grand slam from Mason Davis.
Logan Wiggenhorn threw three innings relief striking out seven for the win. Starter
Matt McQuaid went four innings in the loss.
Skidmore will look to bounce back Wednesday with a double header against Hiram College.
