WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Skidmore College baseball team lost 17-4 to Catholic University Sunday afternoon.
The Thoroughbreds are 1-2 after the season opening series, while the Cardinals improve to 4-4.
Skidmore fell behind early, 5-0 after the first inning. The Thoroughbreds cut it to 5-2 before Catholic scored two in the sixth. Skidmore got to within one 5-4, before the Cardinals scored 10 in the bottom of the eighth for the 17-4 win.
Jake Hardy was 1-4 with an RBI double.
Anthony Mollica and
Sean Lang also doubled for the Thoroughbreds.
Skidmore used seven pitchers with starter
Jay Gamboa getting loss. Gamboa settled down after the first inning. He went five innings with no runs allowed after the first.
The Thoroughbreds open their Florida trip March 8 with a pair against SUNY Canton.
