WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Skidmore College baseball team opened the season with a split at Catholic University. The Thoroughbreds lost the first game 3-1 and came back to win the second 7-3.
The teams will meet for a single game on Sunday.
GAME 1
Freshman
Jack Clark tossed three shutout innings of relief for the Thoroughbreds. He allowed one hit and had one strikeout and no walks.
Ryan Strickland went 2-3, while
Sam Browning had an RBI groundout to account for the Thoroughbred run. Starter
Matt McQuaid allowed three runs (one earned) on six hits over the first three innings.
GAME 2
Spencer Meyer earned his first win of the season, allowing three runs on eight hits over the 4.2 innings.
Jonathan Kaiser closed the game with three innings of scoreless relief for the save.
Tim Allen had 1.1 innings of scoreless relief to set Kaiser up. Freshman
Jackson Hornung went 2-5 with a double and two runs.
Sean Lang was 2-5 with two RBI.
