RIT pulls away for 81-70 win

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Skidmore College men's basketball team dropped an 81-70 decision to RIT Friday night.

The Thoroughbreds fall to 7-17, 6-11 in Liberty League play, while the Tigers are 9-15 and 6-11.

Tautvydas Kupstas led Skidmore in scoring with 28 points alongside nine rebounds. Greg Skoric finished with a double-double with 13 points and 15 rebounds.

The Tigers were led by Keegan Ocorr who scored 28 points and had nine rebounds.

The Tigers hit three back-to-back three pointers at the end of the first half to go into the locker room with a narrow 44-42 lead.

Skoric tied the game within the first 12 seconds of the second half, but the Tigers quickly went on a 10-0 scoring run. The Thoroughbreds were able to chip away at the lead and to within five points, 57-52, with 10:05 remaining. However, RIT maintained the lead for the remainder of game for the 81-70 victory.

"Proud of our effort tonight." said head coach Joe Burke, "We are down a lot of people and the guys gave me everything they had. Ultimately we didn't put the ball in the basket enough.

"I'll sleep okay knowing we completed for 23 offensive rebounds and had 15 assists. We have a Big challenge tomorrow at a place we are familiar with. We are excited about the opportunity."

The Thoroughbreds end the regular season at Hobart Saturday at 4 p.m.
