SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—Babson College extended its unbeaten streak to 10 games with a 4-1 New England Hockey Conference win over Skidmore College Saturday afternoon at the Saratoga Springs City Rink.
The Thoroughbreds are 7-4-4 overall and 3-3-2 in the NEHC. The Beavers are 10-3-2 and 5-2-1.
Babson went up 1-0 at 6:52 of the first when Ryan Black found a loose puck in the crease and scooted in for his sixth goal of the season.
Patrick Flynn upped the lead to 2-0 at 5:27 of the second on a delayed penalty. Skidmore cut it to 2-1 when Matt Russell out hustled the Babson defense and sniped a shot into the upper corner for a short-handed goal at 7:21.
Cole Beckstead and
Austin Rook assisted.
Nick Rosa opened the third period with an insurance goal for the Beavers :59 into the stanza. Brendan Casey added a long empty netter at 19:22 for the 4-1 final.
Brendon Kasel kept busy for Skidmore with 39 saves, including 17 in the first period. Aiden Murphy had 33 saves for Babson.
Skidmore hits the road for five straight, beginning with a Jan. 17 contest at Johnson & Wales at 7 p.m.
