Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Bombers overwhelm Thoroughbreds

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Skidmore College men's basketball team couldn't keep up with the fast paced Ithaca offense in a 92-50 loss on Friday night.

The Thoroughbreds fall to 3-8, 2-2 in the Liberty League, while the Bombers move to 7-2, 3-0 in the conference.

Tautvydas Kupstas led in scoring for Skidmore with 15 points alongside four rebounds. Ty Lamport had eight rebounds.

The Bombers were led by Riley Thompson who scored 20 points.

Ithaca used hot first half shooting to open a substantial 54-25 lead at the break. The Bombers hit 8 of 13 three-point attempts (61.5%) over the first 20 minutes.

"Give all the credit to Ithaca," said Skidmore coach Joe Burke. "They are a good team and awfully tough to beat in their own building.

"We were undermanned and knew we needed to play a great game, but that just didn't happen. Beauty of this league is that you have a chance to get yourself off the mat tomorrow.

"It's a tough trip playing at Ithaca tonight at have to travel back to play a good RPI team tomorrow. WE can make excuses if we want or we can stand up and find out a little something about ourselves. We will see."

The Thoroughbreds face Liberty League opponent RPI tomorrow in Troy at 4 p.m.
