SPRINGFIELD, Mass.—The Skidmore College volleyball team shook off a tough opening loss on Friday to win two matches Saturday afternoon for a 2-1 record at the Springfield College Invitational.
Skidmore held off Montclair State for a 3-2 (25-22, 25-15, 21-25, 17-25, 15-13) win and closed out the weekend with a 3-0 (25-13, 25-14, 25-23) win.
The Thoroughbreds (2-1) face Springfield in the first round of the NYU Invitational on Sept. 6.
Katy Ehnstrom represented Skidmore on the all-tournament team. She had a match-high 19 kills and .621 attack percentage in the Montclair win. Ehnstrom wrapped the successful weekend with 12 kills and two digs against the Owls.
Against Montclair,
Lauren Wolters had 29 assists and 12 digs.
Sophia Hettler and
Alex Estey had three block each, with Hettler ringing up 21 digs.
Frida Anguiano had 25 digs, four assists, and three aces.
Chelsea Winegar had a double/double with 13 kills and 12 digs.
Skidmore had no problem in the 3-0 win over Westfield. Wolters had 13 assists and nine digs and Winegear had 11 digs and eight kills. Estey blocked four shots.
