Thoroughbreds use long ball to sweep CCNY

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y.—Pat Geiger had two home runs and Jake Hardy smacked a grand slam to lead the Skidmore College baseball team to a 5-3, 12-6 non-league road sweep over CCNY Sunday afternoon.

The Thoroughbreds have won three straight to go to 10-9. The Beavers are 7-14.

GAME 1
Geiger upped his season total to seven home runs with a two-run shot to left in the third inning and a solo shot down the line in the fifth. Ryan Strickland was 2-3 with a run.

Jay Gamboa remained unbeaten at 5-0. He allowed one run on three hits over four innings with no walks and five strikeouts. Christian Reenstierna picked-up his second straight save with a scoreless seventh.

GAME 2
Skidmore found itself down 6-2 after four innings. The Thoroughbreds rallied for seven runs in the fifth, keyed by Hardy's two-out bomb to left field. A run in the sixth and two in the seventh made it 12-6.

Will Potter was 4-5 with two runs. He had an RBI single in the third and an RBI double in the fifth. Geiger capped his day, going 2-5 with two runs.

Matt McQuaid earned the win with a scoreless inning of relief. Jonathan Kaiser and Will Potter had a clean inning each of relief to close out the game.
