WILTON, N.Y. – The 21
st-ranked Skidmore College men's tennis team won its sixth straight dual match, defeating Ithaca 9-0 in Liberty League action at the Wilton YMCA Saturday afternoon.
Skidmore improves to 12-4 overall and is 7-0 in league matches. The Thoroughbreds have won their 36
th consecutive league match. Ithaca falls to 5-9 and 4-3.
JT Wynne and
Noah Williamson made quick work of their doubles opponent to begin the scoring, shutting out Minos Stavrakas and Colten Lavery 8-0.
Jack McClaren and
Jason Keye defeated Liam Spiegel and Sam McGrath 8-5, and
Suraj Mahtani and
Travis Leaf completed the doubles sweep with their 8-6 victory over Michael Gardiner and Max Prestwich.
Moving to singles, Williamson had another dominant outing, defeating Gardnier at No. 3 by a 6-1, 6-0 score.
Tristan Thiebaut was next, taking down Garrett Boleslav 6-2, 6-1. Wynne took down Stavrakas 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1 and Conner Biernat defeated Prestwich by a similar score at No. 5, 6-3, 6-3. Mahtani had an easy first set, but held off Lavery in a 6-1, 6-4 score. McClaren finished the sweep with a 6-3, 7-6 (5) win over McGrath.
Skidmore looks to finish the league season undefeated and will have one last chance to do so vs Union. Before the league and season finale on April 28, Skidmore will take a brief break from league action, taking on a stiff test in No. 16 MIT on April 27 at 1 p.m.
