POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.—The Skidmore College baseball team posted its first four-game Liberty League sweep of the season with 8-2 and 9-4 road wins over Vassar College.
The Thoroughbreds have won eight straight for a 15-9 overall and 6-6 Liberty. The Brewers are 11-19 and 5-12.
GAME 1
Skidmore opened a 4-1 behind a strong start on the mound by
Spencer Anderson.
Matt Chipkin had an RBI triple in the first inning and Pat Geiger and
Justin LaRose had RBI singles in the three run second.
Anderson (3-3) went five innings, giving up one run on five hits with eight strikeouts. He walked two.
Jonathan Kaiser had 1.1 innings of shutout relief.
Geiger went 3-4 with two runs and an RBI.
Jake Hardy was 2-4 with a run.
GAME 2
Skidmore dodged trouble in extra innings before scoring five runs with two outs in the 12th inning to break the game open.
Sam Browning took a 2-2 pitch down the line for a double and later scored on a
Pascal Marcktell single. Strickland followed that up with a two-strike RBI single. The Brewers intentionally walked Geiger to load the bases.
Will Potter, who pitched the first six innings, tripled to right field to clear the bases and provide the 9-4 final.
 Potter was 2-6 at the plate and went six innings, allowing two runs on six hits. Kaiser (1-1), Skidmore's fifth pitcher, got the win with two scoreless innings. He worked out of trouble twice with Vassar leaving three on in the 10
th and two on in the 11
th.
Jack Walter pitched the 12
th inning to earn his first save.
Matt Chipkin was 3-7 with a double and two RBI. Â Geiger caught all 19 innings of the doubleheader and went 2-5 with three runs. He was 5-9 for the afternoon. Will Snyder went 2-5 with an run and an RBI, while
Jake Hardy had an RBI triple.
