ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Skidmore College men's basketball team could not find the answers against Calvin College in a 84-64 loss in the first round of the St. Petersburg Classic at Ekerd College.
The Thoroughbreds drop to 3-5, while the Knights move to 5-5.
Ty Lamport led Skidmore with 17 points alongside five rebounds.
Raven Ennis added a career high 11 points, while
Tautvydas Kupstas and
Pat Gallagher both added 10 points each.
The Knights were led by Derrick DeVries who finished with 30 points and six rebounds. Tony DeWitte added 19 more points, while Thadd Shymanski finished with 17 points.
The Thoroughbreds went down early in the first half as Calvin took a 45-29 going into halftime.
Skidmore had seven steals in the game and notched 17 points off of 15 turnovers by the Knights. However, they could not overcome the deficit and fell to Calvin 84-64.
The Thoroughbreds return for their second game in the St. Pete's Classic tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. against Emory & Henry College
