POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Four Thoroughbreds scored double digits as the Skidmore College men's basketball team defeated Vassar on the road 74-66 Wednesday night.

The Thoroughbreds improve to 3-4, 2-1 in Liberty League play, while the Brewers drop to 2-5, 0-3 in the league.

Two rookies paved the way for the Skidmore victory as
Tautvydas Kupstas had another big night with 19 points.
Riley Greene was right behind him with 14 points on top of pulling down seven rebounds.
Pat Gallagher added 10 points, while
Ryan Murunge tallied a double/double with 10 boards and 12 points.

The Brewers were led by Zach Bromfield who scored 20 points alongside 9 rebounds. Avni Mustafaj added 11 points to the board, while Kevin McAuliffe put on another 12 points. The rest of the Brewers were held to single digits against the Skidmore defense.

The first half was tight at first before Skidmore went on an 8-0 scoring run as
Jordan Cole hit two back-to-back three pointers. The Thoroughbreds shot for 42.9% from beyond the three point line with both Cole and Gallagher shooting for 50% to.

The second half was more of the same as Skidmore outscored the Brewers 40-34. Kupstas and Greene combined for 21 points to help secure the 74-66 victory for the Thoroughbreds.

"We grew up a little bit today," said head coach
Joe Burke. "Vassar is a tough place to win and I was proud of how we gutted it out when things got tight. We only have three upper classmen, but they provided us with great leadership tonight and our young guys really answered the call.

"Good to head into exams playing well and excited for our trip to St. Petersburg next week. This will be a chance for us to play two non-league games and continue the development of this team."

The Thoroughbreds head to Florida next to face Calvin College in the St. Petersburg Classic on Dec 20 at Ekerd College.
