Thoroughbreds earn split with 6-4 win at Canton

CANTON, N.Y.—The Skidmore College men's hockey team had six different players score in a 6-4 road win over SUNY Canton Saturday night. The win comes after the Thoroughbreds lost 3-2 to the Kangaroos on Friday night in Saratoga.

Skidmore improves to 4-2-1, while Canton falls to 2-3-1.

Avery Steele beat the buzzer for the first Skidmore goal at 19:59.7 of the first period from Mike Gelatt and Kyle Del Maestro.

The teams opened up for three goals each in a wild second period. Will Steele, Matthew Rutigliano and Nicholas Charron all scored for the Thoroughbreds.
Rutigliano's goal was the team's first shorthanded tally of the season.

Tim Allen scored the eventual game winner at 3:55 of the third period from Owen Campbell and Matt Wolf. Reid Russell added an empty netter at 19:42 for the 6-4 final.

Brian Kowalski stopped 30 shots to earn the win in his first start of the season.

Skidmore will host Buffalo State next in the first round of the Skidmore Invitational Tournament Nov. 30 at 2 p.m.
