GORHAM, Maine—The Skidmore College hockey team scored three third period goals in a 4-1 win over Southern Maine in New England Hockey Conference action Friday night.

The win gives the Thoroughbreds the season sweep of the Huskies and a 11-7-2 overall and 7-4-2 NEHC record. Skidmore moves into fifth place with 16 points and five games to play. Southern Maine falls to 3-14-3 and 3-10-1 NEHC.

After a scoreless first period,
Reid Russell scored his third of the season from
John Litscher and
Paul Vella at 1:46 for a 1-0 Thoroughbred lead. USM tied it on a turnover in the Skidmore zone that resulted on a 3-on-1 that Michael Taormina converted for a 1-1 score at 6:29.

Will Steele got the eventual game-winner from
Corey Morgan and
Austin Rook at 12:58 of the third.
Avery Steele's power-play goal at 14:32 from Russell and
Brandon Borges made it 3-1. Borges capped the scoring with a power-play marker of his own from Russell and Avery Steal at 19:42 for the 4-1 final.

Brandon Kasel had 23 saves for the win.

The Thoroughbreds close out the road trip at New England College on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
