SCHENECTADY, N.Y.—The Skidmore College volleyball capped a successful run at the Union Invitational with a marathon battle against Williams College.
The match went five sets and then some before the Ephs prevailed 3-2 (21-25, 25-22, 23-25, 25-22, 17-15). The Thoroughbreds opened the day with a quick 3-0 (25-13, 25-14, 25-9) win over Buffalo State.
Skidmore (5-3) finished 3-1 at the event. Williams is 4-0 and Buffalo State is 2-6.
In the Buffalo match,
Bailey Hutchins had a team-high 10 kills to go along with seven digs.
Lily Fitzgerald (14) and
Lauren Wolters (13) combined for 27 assists. The Thoroughbreds totaled 15 aces with
Sophia Hettler leading the way with eight.
Allie Dillon added 15 digs.
Against Williams,
Katy Ehnstrom had a match-high 23 kills and Hettler was solid again with 11 kills, 16 digs and two blocks. Fitzgerald registered five aces, including
the clinching point in the third set to go along with 30 assists. Â Hutchins had a double/double with 13 kills and 22 digs. Dillon contributed a match-high 29 digs.
The Thoroughbreds head right back to Union next weekend for another tournament
