SCHENECTADY, N.Y.—The Skidmore College volleyball team posted two more wins Friday night, 3-0 (25-15, 25-13, 25-10) over Mount St. Vincent and 3-2 (25-15, 25-13, 16-25, 24-26, 17-15) against Wells College on the first day of the Union Invitational.
The Thoroughbreds push their record to 7-3. Mount St. Vincent is 1-5, while Wells is 4-6. Skidmore will close out tournament play on Saturday against Plattsburgh at 11 a.m. and Wentworth at 3 p.m.
Skidmore made quick work of Mount St. Vincent behind 23 assists and 10 digs from
Lauren Wolters.
Sophia Hettler had 13 kills, while
Katy Ehnstrom had 11.
Lily Fitzgerald had 12 assists and two aces and
Allie Dillon had a game high 15 digs.
Against Wells, the Thoroughbreds took a 2-0 lead before the Express battled back to tie it. Skidmore prevailed in the fifth set with a pair of kills by
Caite Canfield to break the 15-15 tie.
Canfield finished with a team-high 15 kills, 15 digs, and two aces. Ehnstrom had 13 kills and three aces, while
Zoe Beals contributed 12 kills. Dillon had 14 digs and three aces, while
Lily Fitzgerald (28) and
Lauren Wolters (24) combined for 52 assists. Wolters also had nine digs and two blocks.
