Skidmore drops contest to No. 19 SLU

CANTON, N.Y. – The Skidmore College men's lacrosse team fell in Liberty League action to No. 19 St. Lawrence, 16-6 at Hall-Leet Stadium Saturday afternoon.
 
Skidmore falls to 5-7 overall and 1-4 in the Liberty League. St. Lawrence improves to 8-2 overall and 3-1 in the league.
 
The Thoroughbreds kept it close early in the first quarter, scoring a pair of goals to tie the game at two with 1:50 to go. St. Lawrence would respond with four straight goals in the first and second quarters to take advantage, and would pull away with a 5-1 advantage in the third.
 
Will Lukas had one of his best games of the season, tallying a team-leading three points, all on assists. Jason Shlonsky would tally a pair of goals for Skidmore, while Eric Megnia added a goal and assist. Brendan Halloran, Cody Legeza, and Jack Curry would also add goals. Ryan Warnock picked up a team-leading six ground balls, while Logan Hart would cause a pair of turnovers. Eli Millstein was solid at the face-off "X", going 8-for-11. Warnock was also solid in an 8-for-14 performance.
 
Making his fifth straight start, Dylan Fleishmann would make five saves in 55:02. Chris Baughan returned to action, making a save in 4:58. Baughan's save set the program's all-time save mark with 612, breaking the previous record of 611 set by James deGorter.
 
Connor Caffrey and Mike Donnelly led the Saints, combining for 12 points on six goals and six assists. Kyle Gagne would add three goals and an assist for four points. Alex Terry would get the win in goal, making five saves.
 
St. Lawrence held a 34-24 shot advantage, including a 22-13 margin in shots on goal. Skidmore won 16-of-25 face-offs. Skidmore would convert on one of its five extra-man chances, while St. Lawrence went 3-for-6.
 
The Thoroughbreds return to action next Saturday, where they travel to face top-ranked RIT in Rochester at noon.
