SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.— Skidmore's
Will Potter extended his hit streak to 18 games with a first inning double, but it wasn't enough in a 5-1 non-league loss to Middlebury Wednesday at Castle Diamond.
The Thoroughbreds are 11-15, while the Panthers move to 7-13.
Middlebury scored four of its five runs on wild pitches, including two in the first inning on the way to a 3-0 lead.
Skidmore got its lone run in the third on an infield bad hop bases loaded hit of the bat
Nick Fronte.
Potter and
Jake Hardy were both 2-5. The Thoroughbreds used nine pitchers with starter Matt McQuiad (0-1) Â getting the loss. He allowed two runs, one earned on two walks and two strikeouts in the first.
Jay Gamboa,
Sam Beck, and
Andrew Aikins all had two strikeouts in scoreless single innings of releief.
Middlebury's Justin Han was 3-3 with four runs, two walks, and three stolen bases. He scored three times on wild pitches. Starter Colby Morris (3-4) got the win, allowing one run in four innings on six hits. He struck out four and had no walks.
Skidmore returns home Saturday after its Liberty League series with Clarkson was moved to Saratoga Springs. First pitch is 1 p.m.
