FT. MYERS, Fla. – The Skidmore College baseball team scored six runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to beat North Park University 9-8 in the season opener Sunday afternoon. The Thoroughbreds dropped the night cap 12-1 to Bethel University.
 
In the first game, 
Jake Hardy keyed the six run ninth with a two run triple. Skidmore (1-1) won the game when 
Justin Bottcher stole home with the bases loaded and two outs.
 
Will Potter was 2-5 with a triple. 
Shawn Klier went 2-4 with a double and three RBI. 
Jacob Berish got the win in relief.
 
In the second game, Bethel (6-1)  scored 12 runs on 18 hits, while holding the Thoroughbreds to one run on four hits.
 
Mike Fogarty accounted for the Skidmore run with a home run in the fourth.  
Nate Scheinman was 2-4 and 
Justin Bottcher was 1-4. Starter 
Jay Gamboa took the loss.
 
Skidmore is back at it with a single game Monday against Wilmington College.
