MEET RESULTS
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Skidmore College men's swimming and diving team dropped its first contest of the season, suffering a 170-109 loss to Vassar, in Liberty League dual action at Kresge Pool Saturday afternoon.
The Thoroughbreds fall to 2-1 on the young season, while Vassar improves to 2-1.
Hiro Kamei and
Andrew Klein posted victories for the Thoroughbreds in the meet. Kamei dominated in the breaststroke, winning the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:14.28. He also touched first in the 100-yard event by a narrow margin, racing to a time of 1:00.06. He completed the day with a second-place performance in the 200-yard IM, finishing in 2:06.40.
Klein made it a double on the boards, scoring 208.20 on the 1-meter dive and 193.72 on the 3-meter event.
Other notable finishes included the 200-yard medley relay team of
Harrison Shockley, Kamei,
Kinser Bonner, and
Carl Mellqvist, who finished the event in second in 1:41.35.
Lucas Po finished third in the 1,000-yard freestyle in 10:38.91.
Ryan Cohen and
Owen Kula went 2-3 in the 200-yard freestyle, finishing in 1:56.33 and 2:06.91, respectively. Cohen also took third in the 100-yard freestyle (52.16). Shockley took second in the 100- (56.32) and 200- (2:09.26) yard backstroke, and also placed third in the 50-yard freestyle in 24.13. Bonner finished second in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:07.48.
The Thoroughbreds will open the Williamson Center Pool for 2018-19 with a home meet against Utica next Saturday, Nov. 10 at 1 p.m.
