MEET RESULTS
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College men's swimming and diving team picked up another dual victory, dominating in the pool in a 143-84 victory over Utica, held at the Williamson Sports Center Saturday afternoon.
Skidmore improves to 3-2 on the season, while Utica falls to 5-4.
Hiro Kamei won two individual events to lead the Thoroughbreds won in dominant fashion in the 100-yard breaststroke with a five-second victory (1:00.43), then topped it with another dominating performance in the 200-yard breaststroke, an 11-second victory (2:19.38).
Other winners include
Lucas Po, who ran unopposed in the 1,000-yard freestyle. He finished in 10:22.50, earning nine points for the Thoroughbreds.
Owen Kula also picked up nine points for Skidmore, running unopposed in the 200-yard butterfly with a solid time of 2:28.86. Jason Hansen led a 1-2-3 performance for the Thoroughbreds in the 200-yard freestyle. Hansen finished in 1:57.28, with
Kyle Hughson (2:00.49) and
Daryl Kwan (2:00.68) finishing neck-and-neck in second and third, respectively.
Harrison Shockley bested second-place teammate
Nick Meconiates (1:02.16) in the 100-yard backstroke with a sub-one minute time of 55.47. He also finished second in the 100-yard freestyle (52.30).
Ryan Cohen led a 1-2 Skidmore finish in the 200-yard backstroke. He finished in 2:04.09, with teammate
Kinser Bonner right behind in 2:08.88. He also finished second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.76, just edging teammate
Carl Mellqvist (24.86).
On the boards,
Andrew Klein earned a victory on the 3-meter event with a score of 212.18. He finished second on the 1-meter platform with a score of 191.25.
On the relays, the men's 200-yard medley relay foursome of Cohen, Kamei, Bonner, and Shockley won the event by a little more than a second, with a winning time of 1:44.19. The men's 200-yard freestyle relay was all Skidmore, going 1-2-3. The 'A' team of Kamei, Meconiates, Cohen, and Shockley finished in 1:33.59. The 'B' team of
Carmine Raimondi, Kwan, Mellqvist, and
Kyle Hughson finished second in 1:37.71, with the 'C' team of Jason Hansen, Kula, Klein, and Po right behind in 1:41.77.
The Thoroughbreds finish the 2018 calendar year with a trip to Rochester for the Don Richards Invitational on Nov. 30-Dec. 1.
