OSWEGO, N.Y.--The Skidmore College hockey team ended No. 7 Hobart hockey's unbeaten streak at seven games, rallying for a 2-1 victory over the Statesmen in the consolation game of the 2018 Pathfinder Bank/Oswego Hockey Classic this evening in Oswego, N.Y.

The Thoroughbreds improve to 2-12-1, while Hobart is now 8-3-4 overall. It's the third time the teams have met this season, but this game does not count as a conference game. The Statesmen earned 4-2 and 3-2 victories over Skidmore in their two earlier NEHC contests.

Brandon Kasel earned All-Tournament honors with 39 saves for the win.

Andrew Silard gave Hobart an early 1-0 lead, scoring his first goal of the season just 2:31 into the contest.
Connor Pelkey used a power-play goal to tie the game up at 1-1 for Skidmore. His tally came with 1:38 left in the first.
Brandon Borges was credited with the assist.

Chris Javens registered what proved to be the Thoroughbreds' game-winning goal with 29 seconds left in the second period.

Jake McCarthy set up the goal. The Statesmen pulled goaltender Alexander Connal in the final minutes of regulation for an extra skater, but were unable to net the game-tying goal. Connal finished with 21 saves in 58:17.

Hobart finished with a 40-23 advantage in shots. Skidmore went 1-for-3 on the power play, while the Statesmen were 0-for-6.
