SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College volleyball team won all four matches of the 2017 Skidmore Classic this weekend, defeating New Rochelle in three sets (25-22, 25-10, 25-18) and Cortland in four (25-21, 25-21, 11-25, 26-24) in day two action at the Williamson Sports Center on Saturday.
Skidmore has won nine of their last 10 matches to improve to 11-6 on the season.
Skidmore got off to a quick start and never let up in its victory against New Rochelle, its second of the season.
Bailey Hutchins tallied 10 kills and eight digs, adding a pair of aces. Skidmore Classic Most Valuable Player Katy Enstrom added 10 kills of her own, and
Caite Canfield was one kill shy of a double-double with nine kills and 10 digs.
Rachel Licata led with four of Skidmore's five blocks.
The Thoroughbreds had a tougher time navigating through the second match, but were able to pull away in the fourth set. Three Thoroughbreds tallied a double-double in this match, led offensively by Canfield's 22 kills to go with 15 digs. Hutchins also added a double-double of her own with 15 kills and 10 digs.
Lauren Wolters tallied her first double-double of the season with 44 assists and 14 digs, adding three timely kills on offense.
Allie Dillon led the defense with 20 digs.
Canfield and Hutchins were also named to the All-Tournament team for their efforts along with Ehnstrom.
The Thoroughbreds will resume Liberty League play with a midweek home match against Union, on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
