Box Score SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College Volleyball team rallied after dropping the first set, picking up a wild 3-2 victory (18-25, 25-13, 25-21, 28-30, 15-9) against capital district rival Union in Liberty League action at the Williamson Sports Center Tuesday night.
Skidmore has won its fifth straight match and 10 of the last 11, to improve to 12-6 overall and 2-1 in league play. Union drops to 9-12 and 0-3 in the league.
After dropping the first set, Skidmore jumped to a 12-1 start en route to a second set win. After winning the third set, Skidmore and Union battled in the fourth, with teams switching set points. Trailing 28-27, Union tallied three straight points to win the fourth set, 30-28. In the deciding fifth set, Skidmore won the first four points, then pulled away late to clinch the important victory.
Caite Canfield led the Thoroughbreds with 15 kills and 13 digs.
Katy Ehnstrom tallied 12 kills and added a career-best eight blocks, hitting an impressive .478.
Lauren Wolters paced the Thoroughbred offense with 34 assists and
Allie Dillon led the defense with 18 digs.
Julia Louis racked up 17 kills to lead Union, while Sage Shimamoto added 49 assists.
The Thoroughbreds next host Vassar in Liberty League action on Friday at 6 p.m.
