Box Score GENEVA, N.Y.—William Smith College broke open a 5-4 game with nine straight second half goals on the way a 14-4 win over Skidmore College in the Liberty League Women's Lacrosse championship game Saturday evening at Boswell Field.
The Thoroughbreds end the season with a 12-6 record. The 7
th ranked Herons have won 14 straight and will take an 18-1 record into the NCAA Division III tournament.
Natalie LaBeau, Lilla Seynour,
Louisa Vincent, and
Cas Szwajkowski scored for Skidmore.
Rachel Talanian had a team-high six ground balls and five draw controls.
Megan Kolopsky made 10 saves in goal for the Thoroughbreds.

Megan Kolopsky and Phillips represented Skidmore on the all-tournament team.
Heron goalie Sarah Honan made 10 saves, picked up a team-high five ground balls and three caused turnovers. She was named the tournament's MVP and earned a spot on the all-tournament team. Teammates Allie Flaherty, Melissa Moore, Jackie Rogers, Laura Rollins and Alexandra Bird joined her on the team. .
The Herons scored the first four goals of the game. The Thoroughbreds then registered back-to-back free position goals. The first came from LaBeau and the second from
Lilla Seymour to make it 4-2 with 14:49 left in the first. With 8:41 on the clock, Flaherty beat two Skidmore defenders to tally her second of the day. With 8:23 left in the first,
Louisa Vincent one-timed a pass from Phillips to cut the Skidmore deficit to two at halftime.
Szwajkowski got the Thoroughbreds within one 22 seconds into the second half. However, the Herons closed out the game with nine straight goals.
The Herons finished with a 39-15 advantage in shots and a 22-13 edge in ground balls. Skidmore had the 13-7 lead in draws. William Smith was successful on 21-of-17 clear attempts and the Thoroughbreds finished 14-of-17 clears.
