POTSDAM, N.Y. – A late Clarkson goal snapped a three-game win streak for the Skidmore College women's lacrosse team as the Thoroughbreds dropped an 8-7 contest to the Golden Knights in Liberty League action Friday afternoon.
Skidmore takes its first league loss, falling to 2-1 and 6-4 overall. Clarkson improves to 9-1 and 2-0.

Rachel Talanian caused a turnover to tie the Thoroughbreds' all-time mark in the contest. She has a career total of 122, which ties the mark originally set by Annie Ledyard. Talanian also finished with two ground balls and four draw controls.
Cas Szwajkowski led the Thoroughbreds with four goals, with
Lilla Seymour,
Natalie LaBeau, and
Kathleen Hanna wrapping up the scoring with goals. Hanna and
Amanda Orvis added an assist.
Gianna Muscari added three caused turnovers and added two ground balls.
Megan Kolopsky tallied six saves in net, snagging four ground balls and causing two turnovers.
Abby Collins scored three goals to lead Clarkson. Kate Dillon and Jaid Baytos each tallied two goals and added an assist. Samantha Gladd made 10 saves to earn the win in net.
After Clarkson jumped out to a 3-0 lead, Skidmore went on a run of its own to close the gap. Szwajkowski scored off a feed from Hanna at 19:25 to get the Thoroughbreds on the scoreboard, then Seymour added a man-up goal at 5:32 on an Orvis feed to trim the gap to one, heading into the break.
Szwajkowski scored two free position goals at 22:24 and 21:57 to give Skidmore its first lead of the game to begin the second half. Clarkson struck back on a Collins goal 57 seconds later to tie the game. Clarkson then took a brief lead with a Dillon goal at 17:17.
The Thoroughbreds mounted one more run to take its largest lead of the game. Skidmore first tied the game at 12:26 on another Szwajkowski free position shot and then tallied two more with goals at 12:06 and 10:51 by
Natalie LaBeau and Hanna respectively.
With Skidmore holding the 7-5 lead, Clarkson began its comeback. Baytos and Collins scored goals to tie the game at seven with 1:46 remaining, then Baytos broke the tie with 15 seconds left to give Clarkson the 8-7 lead. Skidmore won the draw following the reset, but Clarkson forced the Skidmore turnover as the clock ran out.
Clarkson held a 26-21 shot advantage and forced Skidmore into 19 turnovers. Skidmore won 12 of 17 draws and held a 20-18 ground ball advantage.
Skidmore completes the weekend with a matchup at St. Lawrence on Saturday at 3 p.m.
