CANTON, N.Y. – Skidmore College women's lacrosse senior defender
Rachel Talanian became the program's all-time leader in caused turnovers, helping the team bounce back from its first league loss of the season by holding on to defeat St. Lawrence 10-8 on Saturday.
Skidmore improves to 3-1 in league play and 7-4 overall. St. Lawrence falls to 1-2 and 4-6.
Talanian tied the record for career caused turnovers in Friday's contest against Clarkson and broke the mark of 122, set by Annie Ledyard, early in the first half. She ended the afternoon with three caused turnovers for a career-total of 125. Talanian also finished with eight ground balls and enters next weekend nine shy of the career-best mark of 211, also set by Ledyard.
Natalie LaBeau led the Thoroughbreds with five points on two goals and three assists, while
Amanda Orvis led all scorers with four goals.

Allison Byrne tallied goals and
Tyler Phillips dished out a pair of assists.
Megan Kolopsky was busy in net, making 12 saves for the victory. She also added two caused turnovers and three ground balls.
Kara Hurley scored four points on three goals and an assist to lead St. Lawrence. Kiera Taussig added a pair of goals and Olga Lukas made two saves in 38:31 in the loss.
Skidmore and St. Lawrence traded goals in the game's first 3:54, before the Thoroughbreds erupted for six straight goals to take a 7-1 lead. The Saints added a pair of goals late, but Skidmore held the 7-3 advantage at the half.
Caponi made St. Lawrence pay for an early second-half penalty, opening up the scoring with a woman-up goal at 28:26. LaBeau added her second of the game 74 seconds later as Skidmore held its largest lead of the game at 9-3. St. Lawrence began its run, scoring three straight goals as Skidmore held a 9-6 lead with 13:12 left. Both teams were held scoreless for over 10 minutes of game time, with Skidmore breaking the drought on a Seymour goal with 2:56 left in regulation. St. Lawrence added a pair of goals in the final 1:22, but the deficit was too much to overcome.
Skidmore was outshot by St. Lawrence 24-18, but Skidmore won the ground ball battle 25-22. Both teams failed to convert on free-position shots; St. Lawrence was 0-for-2 while Skidmore went 0-for-3.
Skidmore continues its four-game road trip next weekend, taking on Union Friday at 4:30 p.m.
