SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—Clarkson University grabbed a pair of Liberty League wins from Skidmore College 8-0 and 2-0 Wednesday at Castle Diamond.

The Thoroughbreds fall to 6-8 overall and 1-5 in Liberty League play. The Golden Knights are 7-7 and 4-2.

In the first game, Skidmore starter
Ben Murphy allowed just one run on three hits over his first four innings, before giving up a two-out two-run home run to Brad Pearson  in the fifth.  The Golden Kn ights got to the Thoroughbred bullpen for five more runs before
Tim Allen closed out the game with a scoreless seventh inning.

Murphy final line was five innings, three runs, four hits, and two walks. Clarkson's Ted Wilson improved to 3-0 with six strong shutout innings. He allowed four hits, no walks and struck out two.

Hits were few and far between in the second game. Making his first start of the season, Skidmore's
Will Potter faced the minimum of 13 batters over the first 5 1/3 innings. Joe Fraser broke the scoreless tie for Clarkson with a deep solo home run to right field. The Golden Knights tacked on an insurance run in the seventh for the 2-0 win.

Potter allowed the two runs over seven innings, allowing five hits with no walks and three strikeouts.

Clarkson's Mike Bubniak got the win, throwing six shutout innings on two hits, one walk and two strikeouts. Nate Burns earned his second save of the season with a scoreless seventh.

Skidmore is back at it on Saturday when the Thoroughbreds travel to Bard College with a 12 p.m. start.
