Thoroughbreds take night cap 11-5 over Bard

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.—The Skidmore College baseball team banged out 11 runs on 12 hits for an 11-5 second game Liberty League win over Bard College Saturday afternoon. The Raptors won game one 10-4.
 
The Thoroughbreds are 7-9 overall and 2-6 in league play. Bard is 8-10 and 3-3.
 
In the first game, Bard broke a scoreless tie with eight runs in the bottom of the fourth. Skidmore responded with four in the fifth, keyed by two-run Josh Brown single and an RBI infield single by Daniel Dasgupta.
 
The Raptors added two in the sixth for the 10-4 final.
 
Andrew Aikins (2-2) took the loss. He went 3 2/3, allowing eight runs (three earned) on eight hits and three walks.
 
It was Skidmore's turn for the big inning in the second game. The Thoroughbreds broke a 3-3 tie with five in the sixth to go along with three in the seventh.  
 
Matt Chipkin was 2-5 with four RBI. He had an RBI triple in the first, walked in a run in the sixth, and plated two runs with a single in the seventh.  Mat Marino was 2-5 with an RBI, Ryan Strickland was 1-3 with a two-run single and Mike Fogerty went 1-2 with three runs.
 
Rookie Jay Gamboa (3-1) went eight innings for the win. He allowed three runs (two earned) with seven hits and four walks. He struck out two.
 
The series moves to Saratoga on Sunday for another pair, starting at 12 p.m.
